Bakersfield
At Crestwood Bakersfield, all persons served regardless of their recovery needs, participate in the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) treatment model, a self-help recovery system designed to decrease negative mental health symptoms, increase personal responsibility, and improve quality of life. Crestwood Bakersfield also offers Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based therapeutic practice developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington. DBT is designed to treat persons served with Borderline Personality Disorder and assists them in learning skills that help them regulate their emotions. By adopting emotional regulation skills, persons served are empowered to choose healthier responses to life’s situations, where in the past they may have previously responded in a self-destructive or aggressive manner. DBT consists of individual therapy sessions that are held weekly with a therapist who follows the treatment hierarchy, reviews events from the past week, and discusses diary cards that persons served keep daily. At Crestwood Bakersfield, we also provide weekly 2-5-hour skills training classes that focus on emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
Programs
The Bridge
The Bridge is a dynamic Adult Residential Rehabilitation treatment program that addresses the diverse needs of persons served in a cozy, homelike atmosphere. The Bridge focuses on providing persons served with life skills training, linkage, and community engagement opportunities that help them take on an active role in reaching their recovery potential. Our Bridge program utilizes support groups that are co-created with persons served to address their cultural, spiritual, psychological, biological and social needs. We also aim to cultivate an inclusive recovery community comprised of family, friends, and other individuals who support persons served as they seek mental health care and stabilization assistance.
At the Bakersfield Bridge program, we provide enhanced services to 15 persons served who require increased structure and life skills education. These enhanced services include Crestwood’s first recovery treatment plan, written by the people we serve and approved by the California Department of Health Care Services.

Crestwood Behavioral Health Center MHRC
At Crestwood Bakersfield, we provide individuals with access to a wide range of wellness tools and staff support to assist them in recovering with an enhanced sense of resilience. Our mission is to restore hope, empowerment, community, and psychiatric stabilization in each person served seeking help while on their recovery journey.
Community reintegration strategies and dual recovery are key tenets of our MHRC program. Our reintegration practices are designed for persons served who need help developing some of the basic life skills necessary to thrive as they return to their communities. We accomplish successful reintegration through various modalities including classes, therapy, community service, peer mentorship, and offer an innovative 12-step program designed for individuals with a co-occurring diagnosis that includes mental health issues and drug or alcohol dependency. We also provide persons served with an opportunity to participate in our Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network (DEN). This network provides individuals with pre-employment training to gain professional development skills that support sustainable employment after leaving our campus. During their participation in DEN, the people we serve are able to become Dreamcatcher employees, which helps provide them with meaningful roles and services while a part of our Crestwood community.
