Sacramento
Upon arrival at Crestwood Center Sacramento, persons served receive a personalized recovery service plan that focuses on classes and activities designed to strengthen the skills they need to move to a less restrictive care setting, and eventually back to their own communities. Once persons served have begun their personalized plans, we provide continual encouragement and assessments to ensure that each individual has the greatest opportunities to succeed.
Our Sacramento campus offers a wide variety of classes, from core recovery courses like the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), to community living skills, and substance abuse education. Persons served may also engage in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, exercise, relaxation, and movie nights. At Crestwood Center Sacramento, we also offer Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is a form of therapeutic practice developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington. DBT is used to treat persons served with Borderline Personality Disorder and assists them in learning skills that help them regulate their emotions. By adopting emotional regulation skills, persons served are empowered to choose healthier responses to life’s situations, where in the past, they may have previously responded in a self-destructive or aggressive manner. Crestwood's implementation of the DBT program has made a considerable impact on the lives of the participants and our overall treatment environment. Some of our persons served have remarked:
“My mental status has improved. DBT has encouraged me to love and forgive myself. It has encouraged me to assess the thoughts that have haunted me for years, and for that, I am in a better place.”
“It keeps me in touch with the outside world. It keeps me knowing myself and talking about things that have debilitated me in the past and that have kept me ill. It has taught me what to do, and not to do, when I am in crisis.”
