Crestwood Center San Jose embraces a commitment to providing a continuum of care for persons served on the road to recovery.

San Jose

San Jose

At Crestwood Center San Jose, each person served on our campus is given an individual rehabilitation plan that empowers and motivates them to be active participants in their recovery. Our personalized recovery plans help persons served develop skills that allow them to achieve a more independent and satisfying lifestyle.

Our Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) encourages persons served to attend an array of classes and activities to strengthen their mental, physical, and social skills. Our classes range from core recovery programs to dual recovery and re-integration courses. We also offer Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT is an evidence-based therapeutic practice developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington. DBT is designed to treat persons served with Borderline Personality Disorder and assists them in learning skills that help them regulate their emotions. By adopting emotional regulation skills, persons served are empowered to choose healthier responses to life’s situations, where in the past they may have previously responded in a self-destructive or aggressive manner. DBT consists of individual therapy sessions that are held weekly with a therapist who follows the treatment hierarchy, reviews events from the past week, and discusses diary cards that persons served keep daily. We also provide weekly skills training classes that focus on emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.

Special Features

Foreign Language Support

Over the past decade, we have developed specialized support programs for the many persons served at our campus who speak Vietnamese or Spanish as a first language. These programs give persons served the opportunity to participate in classes and activities in their native languages, which eliminates barriers to understanding as they learn new skills to support their mental health.

At Crestwood Center San Jose, our Vietnamese psychiatrist, Cultural Specialist, and support staff lead WRAP implementation and cultural activities for Vietnamese speakers. Our program celebrates all major Vietnamese holidays, hosts karaoke nights, and cooks special menu options at every meal. We also provide English classes for Vietnamese speakers and offer discussion groups that include current events.

Our Spanish speaking persons served are also given the support they need to progress in their recovery, increase their English literacy, and converse with staff using their native language. At our campus, we provide persons served with classes to enhance their basic English skills. Our Spanish Cultural Specialist leads cultural groups that explore the diverse Hispanic traditions represented at our campus and discuss Central and Latin American current events. Other cultural activities at our campus include regional cooking classes, and Spanish music, TV, and movies for those who are interested.

Dreamcatchers Employment Network

At Crestwood Center San Jose we invite persons served to participate in our pre-vocational training program, Dreamcatchers Employment Network (DEN). DEN offers persons served the chance to refine their work skills by engaging in various tasks and chores throughout our campus. By doing this work, persons served gain experience working at the campus cafe where they work the cash register, serve customers, and keep the cafe clean.
