At Santa Barbara Crisis Residential, our wide range of wellness tools and support staff help each person served recover with an enhanced sense of resilience. We believe that wellness and recovery is an ongoing process, and persons served must be active participants in their recovery journey. We provide various programs to persons served, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).

DBT is an evidence-based therapeutic practice developed by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., at the University of Washington. DBT is used to treat persons served with Borderline Personality Disorder and assists them in learning skills that help them regulate their emotions. By adopting emotional regulation skills, persons served are empowered to choose healthier responses to life’s situations, where in the past, they may have previously responded in a self-destructive or aggressive manner. Persons served also participate in Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), a self-initiated recovery process established by an individualized plan. With WRAP, persons served progress through the structured levels of our program at their own pace and receive support every step of the way.

To support persons served, all of our staff members are committed to honoring the Crestwood recovery model, which is founded on the belief that everyone can heal and recover when given the proper support, services, and love needed to nurture their spirit. We believe that when persons served define what recovery means to them, they can develop and hone strategies and skills to live the life that they desire.

Crestwood Santa Barbara CRT provides a voluntary short-term place for persons served who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Our clinical treatment team is comprised of certified peer providers who possess lived experience and a range of clinical expertise to support the people we serve. During the admission process, persons served are greeted into a warm, comforting environment and are provided with a variety of recovery-based tools such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and Trauma-Informed Approaches. These tools help persons served manage their symptoms and build the necessary skills required for them to successfully live in the community. In addition to participating in our recovery treatment program, we also encourage persons served to utilize our Dreamcatchers Empowerment Network program.
