Non-Violent Practices
Crestwood’s journey to eliminate the use of coercive treatment started in early 2008 with a two-day training that was focused on creating violence and coercion-free environments. Since then Crestwood has developed an overall corporate plan to assist and support the elimination of the use of coercive treatment, with the ultimate goal of totally eliminating the use of coercive care throughout Crestwood.

2009
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
The DBT implementation project at Crestwood kicks off with a series of trainings and ongoing consultation in 2009. DBT is a modified cognitive-behavioral treatment that is the only Evidence-Based Practice to prevent suicide. Crestwood has been offering DBT to our persons served since the 2009 trainings.

The Pathway
Crestwood Healing Center opens The Pathway, an adult residential facility and a social rehabilitation program, on its campus.

3-Year CARF Accreditation
Crestwood receives our second three-year Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation of our community programs, accounting office and corporate office

Crestwood PHF
Crestwood opens our first Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) program on our Bakersfield campus. This 16-bed program is dedicated to restoring a sense of hope, self-empowerment and realized potential of recovery for persons served.

American River
Crestwood opens American River Residential Services, an adult residential facility, on our American River campus.

JUNE
3-Year CARF Accreditation

Bakersfield Bridge
Crestwood’s Bakersfield campus opens its Bridge program in August 2009. This program provides enhanced services to 15 persons served who require increased structure and life skills training.
DECEMBER
Hope Center
Crestwood Hope Center opens on our Vallejo campus and is Crestwood’s first Residential Care Facility for Elderly (RCFE). This program supports independence, while providing health and wellness programs, managing both physical and behavioral problems, and promoting integration into the community.

Crestwood initiates a Quality Improvement process and best practice to create homelike environments in our campuses with soothing, soft paint colors, serenity rooms, libraries, living rooms, comfort rooms and dining rooms

Crestwood opens a Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) on our American River campus. This 16-bed acute care unit assists adults experiencing a mental health crisis by providing a safe, secured, comfortable setting and ready access to psychiatric and social services.

In July 2010, Courtyard Community opens on our Eureka’s campus and making it Crestwood’s second Residential Care Facility for Elderly (RCFE).

In 2011, Crestwood adopted the Trauma-Informed Care Approach Initiative in which all of our operations, treatment, employment, and community relationships are viewed through the trauma lens.

Crestwood opens our fourth Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) on March 2011 on our San Jose campus. The San Jose PHF is designed for persons served who require stabilization at a time of acute psychiatric crisis and is dedicated to restoring a sense of hope, self-empowerment and recovery in each of their persons served.
